You can buy colonies, have an offmap reactor and there are so many paths to go down. I'd like to go with the Poland shown in the DDs, seeing as that looks like the ultimate chill campaign, while also providing plenty of variety for other types of campaigns. Perfect for the beginner-friendly campaigns I played back then, equally good for the chill campaigns I play now. I remember being told back in the HoI3 days that they were one of the tie-breakers. Fascist/communist playthroughs aren't that interesting by comparison, though (at least in my experience). Do well enough, and it isn't hard to break free from Britain via warscore. India: Set between Europe and East Asia with a strong buffer against direct attacks and plenty of manpower, you have a good opportunity to intervene either in China against Japan, or to put together a marine force to take Italy and push into Europe. Democratic isn't really worth more than a couple playthroughs due to the slog it takes to win, but switching ideology can change up the game quite a bit (particularly fascist, if Germany doesn't attack you then you have even more potential to impact the course of the war than Germany itself). Too many naval enemies, and the land war might be impossible, too few and its too easy.įrance: If Germany's too easy, France is a better-balanced game with a ton of political options. USA: If you want a simple game and a naval war, set Britain to monarchist and you'll get a naval war with the Axis that's actually interesting, and again dictate the pace of the fighting yourself. Germany: You dictate the course of the war, so if you want something different then shake up the starting conditions and you can fight wherever you want, when you want.
